History Of Sindh

The South Asian region is separated from the rest of Asia by a wall of ranges - the Hindu Kush, the Karakoram and the Himalayas. Below these are the seemingly endless plains drained by the Indus, the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers.

In the geological world the entire subcontinent was part of the ocean bed. Its ring of mountains was a wall of cliff-shored islands. The ocean receded; the bed became fertile plain. Rivers began to find their way to the now distant ocean. The longest of three great sub continental rivers is the Indus, Sind. The river has given its name to a country and a religion- ironically, not the country through which it flows or the religion of the people who live by its waters. It is fed by many streams from the mountains of Tibet, the Soviet Union, and Afghanistan. Five other major rivers flows from SINDHU NADEE are  the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej, and Beas.

The people who live along these waters and the people who live in the desserts were deprived of these waters. The people of the Indus live in four provinces of Sindh. Sindh word emerges from the word  "SEENDH" means the middle part  of Head dividing Hair in two parts. Also the reference is to the powder "Sindoor" applied by Married Hindu Ladies on the head. This SEENDH word became Sindh. So Sindhu River became the lifeline of people living both sides of the Sindhu Nadee (River).  These people speak many languages - Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashtoo, Balochi, Kachi, Gujrati etc. reflecting the diversity of their historical and cultural influence.

In the 1920s an expedition of the Indian Archaeological Survey under Sir John Marshall excavated an interesting mound of earth in the Sind region of then British India. The locals called this particular earthy protuberanceMohan-jo-daro - Litraly means MUHINJO DHARO = means MY CITY OR MY PALACE. Sir John and his -party discovered one of the worlds most ancient cities beneath it. Up to that time the ancient settled areas along the Tigris-Euphrates and the Nile River systems had seemed to merit the title of "cradle of civilisation" - now the Indus was making its claim and new theories had to be devised.

Other sites were investigated, and the cities of the Indus Valley were unearthed - Harappa, Chanhu-daro, Lothal, Kot Diji-highly developed cities that told of a civilisation which had began around 3000 BC, reached apex by 2000, and completely perished by 1000 B.C.

The remains excavated in Mohan-jo-Daro depict the state of affairs from civilization point of view at that period. These people named as Aryans. The Time of Ramayana Where Bhagwan Shree Ram Travelled from North to South Kanyakumaree and further went to Island LANKA  and conquring by kiling  King Ravana. These Aryans virtually the Indus Valley are mentioned in history  the  battle of Hastinapur (Mahabhart) when King Jaidrath took his army to support the Kauravs with Pandav. Pandav  were supported by Bhagwan Shree Krishna in the battle field.  Bhagwan Shree Krishna gave Updesh to Famous Pandav Warrior ARJUNA to fight for his right. Where Shree Krishna tried to explain Arjuna about Rigt and Wrong that conversation became so famous and known as Bhagwad Geeta.

Arabs / Moguls entered in Sindh area for Food Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, spices as the Arabistan was less cultivated and having More Desert area.So they Exchange food items with Pearls, Fish and Khajoor (Dates). Their continuous visit make them to settle down and they married the local Sindhi Girls. Mostly these Muslims were doing odd jobs working as Labour, Cleaner, or working in fields, getting water from Well and rivers. All these jobs were caried by Muslims to earn their livelihood. They were working under Zamindar or Vadera as servents.

In some areas these Fanatic Muslims called themselves as rulers but they never became true rulers because of most Muslims were earlier Hindus converted to Islam or by Marriage to local Sindhi Girls. and their Childrens marriage to Sindhi Boys.  So it was all Mixup of Society living in peace and harmony without any grudge or enimity.  The Sindhis rule till they overcome by the majority of Muslims, those were converted from Hindus by force or by marriage.

The influence of Hinduism and their Islam religion mixed and gave newfaith as Sufism.  Arabic, Farsee language mixed with Sindhi, Punjabi and  Hindi known as URDU .. AUR DO means local language Mix with other two languages Arabic and Farsee.. So slowly Aur Do becomes URDU.

There were many Sindhi Hindu saints who were  having vast knowledge of Vedas, Upanshabd, Puran, RAMAYANA, MAHABHARAT< GEETA GIYAN > Because of Sindhi Saints  Muslims were  attracted and became their followers. But due to some Fanatic who called themselves as  Rulers started atrocities  by forcing innocent Hindus to accept Islam by force.

Muslims could not believe the Miracles of SANT Kanwar Ram who give life to a dead child during LOLEE. Upon realization Sant Kanwar Ram Stopped giving Lolee. As he felt guilty of over ruling Bhagwans Work ( Dead to alive).  Sant Kanwar Ram was shot dead by  Muslim  Fanatic on Railway Station.

Some time Bhagwan Bhuda also came to Sindh spreading his Knowledge of Truth of Life.  But  his influence was so little or for some time.  As his teachings were similiar of Geeta Giyan.  As Bhagwan Bhudha Original Name as Rajkumar Siddarth. Married to a Rajkumaree having one child.  But one day he left for search of truth.  He came to contact of Hindu Saints. On Bhudh Purnima he got Enlightment and he gave his knowledge to people. His influence we can see in China, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam etc.

    Recent Past

With the Partition in 1947  Sindhi Hindus  have to leave their home and migrated to various cities of India and abroad.  As Sindh portion wasallotted to Muslims. Muslims left  Indian cities to see their separate Homeland exclusively as PAKISTAN. They were regarded as refugees called MUHAJIRS in Pakistan. The India kept Sindh alive by including in the National Song Punjab, Sindh, Gujrat , Maratha, Dravid, utkal,Bhanga. Thus covering from Himalaya  to Kanyakumaree as one Nation. Because Sindh is not the only part which is part of Now in Pakistan but Sindhu Nadee is Start from Himalyan  to down creating more rivers.

When, due to the partition of India, the Sindhis Hindus  were dispossessed of their lands and properties, they did not give into despair. They migrated to India, bringing with themselves their enterprising sprit, their faith in Jhulelal ( Avtar / GOD)  and their many qualities of head and heart.During partition many innocent Hindus were killed, robed and girls were molested and abducted by Muslims. In Sindh, there was never a Sindhi Hindu beggar. When they come to India, they resolved that they would starve rather than beg. Little boys attended school during the day and in the afternoon, kept themselves busy hawking on the streets or in railway trains.

This Hard working and honesty got full recoginition from other communities.  They earned respect and sympathy.  Sindhi Hindu Saints started  preaching by organising  gathering called BHAGAT.  Sant Kanwar ram was so famous about conducting these Bagats that inspired many people to teach Sindhis about good conduct  and honesty, having  full trust and devotion in Hinduism.
